Located a little more than eight miles away from downtown Hendersonville, North Carolina, the Holmes Educational State Forest provides a network of well-marked nature trails, displays and exhibits that depict the ecology of the managed forest, and equipment for fighting fires. The state forest also offers a playground and a picnic area with a spacious shelter, grills, and picnic tables.
