Also referred to as a part the Carolina Bays, Bay Tree Lakes are rumored to have been created from either a meteor shower or iceberg in the distant past. Both Bay Tree Lakes and the connected Horsepen Lake are natural wonders shaped like almost perfect ovals.

Bay Tree Lakes, which sit inside a private gated community of the same name, offers welcoming white sandy shores for property owners. Many narrow, man-made canals allow all residents direct water access. Located in Elizabeth, the Carolina Bays span over 1,400 acres and are perfect for various water sports such as tubing and skiing, canoeing and kayaking, or even fishing.
