Dating back to 1850, Pelletier House is the oldest surviving antebellum home in Jacksonville, and forms part of the Onslow County Museum. It is believed to have been built by local merchant Rufus Pelletier, and was used as his home and his office. The house is built in the Greek Revival style and was home to various businesses over the decades, including a turpentine distillery and a post office. The structure saw several additions and improvements over the years, but most of these were destroyed by a fire in the 1950’s. The museum is open to the public by appointment only.
