The Sheridan Memorial Park is situated along the Mississippi River and is home to the Sheridan Veterans Memorial that honors all veterans of the state of Minnesota. The memorial was created by Robert Smart, a local artist, and centers around a large circular sculpture made up of protective shields. The Sheridan Veterans Memorial emphasizes the cost associated with war, along with the importance of peace. The path around the perimeter of the memorial features quotes regarding peace that are engraved into the granite. The memorial is also surrounded by gardens and markers describing conflicts Minnesotans have served in.
