Erected in 1754, the Chapman-Hall House is a fabulous example of Maine-style architecture that was popular during the Pre-Revolutionary period. It was built by the house’s first owner, Nathaniel Chapman. It remained in the Chapman Family until it was purchased by Tilden and Elizabeth Hall in 1835 whose family called the property home until 1907. Today, the house is managed by the Chapman-Hall House Preservation Society, which restored the house to its former glory until the guidance of noted historian, Abbott Lowell Cummings. Visitors can take tours of the Chapman-Hall House during weekends where each floor has been decorated to represent a different period in terms of architecture and artifacts.
