There are over three thousand pieces of art in the Ogunquit Museum of American Art’s permanent collection, including paintings, sculptures, photography, and other media. The Ogunquit Museum of American Art is the only museum in all of Maine that focuses its exhibits and collections on American art alone, with an emphasis on contemporary art, and it has been exhibiting and educating its visitors about modern art since it first opened its doors in 1953. Some of the highlights of the museum’s collection include paintings by recognizeable artists such as Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Walt Kuhn and Marsden Hartley, as well as some amazing sculptures by Carl Walters, and other incredible works by notable American artists.
