Craving a peaceful riverside escape full of music, charm, and natural beauty? I’ve got just the place—you need to visit Henderson! When I first discovered this town along the Ohio River, I didn’t expect to fall so hard for its Bluegrass soul and scenic parks. You’ll feel it too, especially when you’re watching bald eagles soar or tapping your foot to a live concert in the open air. I love wandering the historic downtown and browsing those little boutiques—you never know what you’ll find. Henderson is small, sure, but I promise it packs a ton of personality.

Best Time to Visit

If you ask me, April through October is the sweet spot. That’s when the weather’s just right for strolling along the riverfront or dancing to live music during one of Henderson’s many festivals. I always try to visit in spring or fall—the blooms and foliage add something magical. And if you enjoy being outdoors, I think you’ll love how the town comes to life during these seasons.

How to Get There

  • Driving in? I usually take U.S. Route 41. Henderson’s only about 10 miles south of Evansville, and just a couple hours from Louisville or Nashville—an easy drive if you’re planning a little weekend getaway.
  • Flying? I’ve flown into Evansville Regional Airport (EVV) before—it’s a quick 25-minute drive to town. Super convenient if you’re coming from out of state.
  • On a budget or traveling light? Greyhound and local shuttles are also solid options. I’ve seen folks use them for a no-fuss arrival.

Where to Stay

  • Comfort Inn Henderson – I’ve stayed here when I wanted something simple and dependable. Free breakfast, clean rooms, and a convenient spot—what more do you need?
  • Holiday Inn Express Henderson – If you’re like me and appreciate a few modern touches, this one hits the mark. It’s right near downtown and the riverfront, which made exploring easy for me.
  • L&N Bed and Breakfast – I adore this place. You’ll feel the Southern hospitality as soon as you walk in. It’s got that cozy, historic charm that makes your stay feel personal. If you like a little character in your lodging, this is the one I’d recommend.
