1. Explore Regional History at the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center
The South Central Kentucky Cultural Center in Glasgow shares the history of the events, places, and people that make up this area of Kentucky often called “the Barrens,” which includes the counties of Barren, Monroe, Hart, Allen, and Metcalfe.
The 30,000-square-foot center features three floors of quality exhibits for visitor explore. On the first floor, guests will find a variety of artifacts representing the south central region from around 12,000 BC through Kentucky’s frontier days, such as Native American objects, knives, and bone and stone tools from various historic eras. A military collection is located on the second floor.

2. Catch a Show or Concert at the Historic Plaza Theatre
Situated in the heart of the town of Glasgow, the Plaza Theatre hosts a variety of live concert events performed by national, regional, and local performing artists, along with touring groups The theatre has been a part of the local community since the year 1934 and hosted numerous civic, church, and community groups who have used this beloved event venue for graduations, recitals, plays, concerts, and more. The Plaza Theatre today boasts more than 1,000 seats and aims to offer some of the best in entertainment to Glasgow, Kentucky for everyone, both locals and visitors alike, to enjoy.

3. Shop, Snack, and Snap Pics at Quirky Paradise Point
Located just outside of Glasgow in the town of Scottsville, the Paradise Point marketplace is a family-owned and operated shop, restaurant, and one-of-a-kind destination full of its own unique, fun charm.
Owned and operated by John Erskine, this shop, along with its restaurant, is perhaps one of the quirkiest people can find in the state of Kentucky and a fun place to spend a bit of time browsing or having a meal while in Glasgow. Visitors will find everything from “far-out furniture” to gourmet foods and hotdogs at Paradise Point and is a place for the entire family to visit.

4. Boat, Fish, or Relax at Peninsula Marina on Barren River Lake
The Peninsula Marina is situated approximately two miles away from the Barren River Dame, along the shoreline of the scenic Barren River Lake. The marina features unleaded gas pumps, women’s bathrooms, men’s bathrooms, and a store with extensive offerings, such as boat rentals, cold drinks, ice, supplies, and bait.
Formerly known as Sawyer Landing, Marty and Tim Craycroft purchased the marina in 2004, changing its name to the Peninsula Marina. In 2019, the Rubrights bought the Peninsula Marina at Barren River Lake and aim to provide the best service and marina available. The full-service marina offers more than 275 boat slips.
