The Monroe County History Center came about due to the efforts of a small group of local residents who wanted to ensure that future generations would be able to learn more about the early days of Monroe County. Today the center has its own building where a rotating collection of exhibits are on display. Just a few of the fascinating episodes of Monroe County History displays include Transportation Roots, the Legacy of Gayle and Bill Cook, Hoosier Quilts from Pioneer Country, Limestone History and the 1830’s Pioneer Life exhibit. If you are unable to visit the center you can admire much of the collection online.
