Stretching for over 15 miles along the southern-most shores of Lake Michigan, the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore offers endless possibilities for a lakeside back-to-nature escape.
Hikers can explore over 50 miles of trails which will lead you beyond the sandy beaches to uncover rugged sand dunes, wetlands and diverse habitats which provide breeding grounds for large numbers of endemic and visiting birds.
It is a good idea to start your visit at the Visitor’s Center where you can pick up trail maps and get expert advice on planning your day.
Camp sites are available at the Dunewood Campground – (no electrical hook-ups) and there is a wide selection of other accommodation available in the surrounding towns of Porter and Chesterton.
