Review:

Cruz Blanca is a popular brewpub and small-batch brewery in Chicago's West Side district, opened in 2016 by Rick Bayless. The brewery, which takes its cues from Mexico City's classic 19th-century Cruz Blanca Brewery, focuses on ModMex-style lagers, along with a variety of tropical-inspired wild-fermented sour beers and IPAs meant for sipping along the beachfront during the summer. The restaurant's open-format kitchen produces authentic tacos filled with ingredients such as pork belly, árabe-style lamb, crispy shrimp, or grilled cauliflower, served up on a platter with wood-grilled onions and peppers for self-preparation. Large shareable Oaxacan-style tlayudas are also served, along with delicious appetizers such as chorizo queso fundido and asiago-jalapeno beer pretzels.
