Waukegan Municipal Beach is the premiere public beach facility in Waukegan, stretching one mile along the city's beautiful 400-acre lakefront region. The beach is the site of the area's only remaining natural sand dunes, offering ample opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, kiteboarding, and fishing throughout the summer months. Visitors should note that no lifeguards are staffed at the beach and should exercise necessary caution when swimming. A 1,000-slip marina is available at the facility, along with areas for sand soccer and volleyball. Mobile food vendors are parked on site during the summer months.
