Through a various range of educational programs and exhibits, the Yellowstone County Museum collects, preserves and researches the natural history and diverse culture of Yellowstone Valley in Montana and the Northern Plains. Visitors can get a better understanding of the pre-history of the plains and view artifacts specific to the Indian tribes, mining, transportation, military, music and lifestyles around the 1950s and before.
One of the exhibits is the Lewis and Clark Fur Trading Post Exhibit which includes trade goods, fur trader accoutrements, and examples of animals encountered along the way. Admission is free and the entire family can have an educational and fun day out at the Yellowstone County Museum.
