Wat Ho Phra Keo is located in Vientiane and is one of the most impressive and important religious sites in Laos. Originally built to be the personal chapel of the Laotian royal family during the 16th century, Wat Ho Phra Keo was once also the home of the Emerald Buddha, a famous Buddhist relic that now lies in Bangkok, Thailand. Despite this, the temple’s name means “Temple of the Emerald Buddha,” and even without this famous jewel of its collection, it’s still a stunning place to visit.
