Zealandia is a unique zoo and the first fenced ecosanctuary in the world, located about 10 minutes from downtown Wellington. The 225-hectare conservation project has already reintroduced 18 species of native species back into the valley. Six of them were extinct in New Zealand for more than 100 years.
