The Cape Lookout Lighthouse (Map) stands 163 feet above the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Similar in construction to the Bodie Island Lighthouse and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, Cape Lookout is distinguished by its diamond-patterned daymark and the fact that its light flashes throughout the day instead of only flashing at night.

The flash guides ships from as far as 19 miles away. The original structure from 1859 still stands, and visitors can access Cape Lookout by private ferry. Guests can also climb the 207 steps leading to the top of the lighthouse from mid-May to mid-September each year.
