The Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge in Nampa, Idaho offers a number of different outdoor recreation activities for anyone who loves seeing wildlife and being outdoors in nature, such as hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, and birding. One of the main draws of the wildlife refuge is Lake Lowell, a 14.5-square-mile reservoir boasting nearly thirty miles of shoreline. Along with viewing wildlife and fishing, the lake also offers opportunities for water sports. The Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge is a particularly great spot for birding, with more than two hundred species of birds have been recorded being spotted at Lake Lowell.
