Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark is a 26-acre water park resort in Galveston, operated by New Braunfels-based franchise corporation Schlitterbahn. The year-round water park was opened to the public in 2006 and is home to the most rides of any Schlitterbahn park, including the 81-foot MASSIV coaster, the Guinness world record holder as the world’s tallest water coaster. Other high-thrill slides include the immersive, intertwined Screaming Serpents dual-slide experience, which has been showcased on the Travel Channel’s “Xtreme Waterparks” series. A one-mile lazy river connects the park’s attractions, including its convertible indoor-outdoor Wasserfest section, which has received multiple Golden Ticket awards as the World’s Best Indoor Waterpark.
