Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:

Visit a place of geological and spiritual significance when you drop by the Wind Cave Natural Entrance. While the Wind Cave is quite long and very complex, it is most known for the handful of natural entrances that were carved out of its stone façade. The most prominent and well-known is only about 10 inches wide. Guests can explore this natural entrance on their own or see it on a guided tour where rangers will demonstrate the very wind that gives the cave its name. Considered to be the birthplace of the Lakota nation, the Wind Cave holds a very significant and meaningful spot in the culture and heritage of the Lakota people. Tours of the natural entrance can last anywhere between 10 minutes to 75 minutes depending on the route and complexity of the tour itinerary.
