When translated into English, Janapada Loka means ‘Folk world’. Located on a 15-acre campus, Janapada Loka is a museum that proudly displays village folk arts. This prominent cultural center was created by Shri H.L. Nage Gowda in 1979. He was also responsible for designing the architectural plans of this museum. The institution aims to promote and preserve the native folk culture of Karnataka. It does this by bringing awareness to the many dimensions of native art forms, activities, festivals, and storytelling. One of the wings inside the museum called, Loka Mahal features over 5,000 folk artifacts, including musical instruments, and agricultural and farming tools.
