Resorts Casino Hotel was Atlantic City’s first casino and hotel and was the first legal casino in the United States operated outside of Las Vegas when it opened in 1978. Its site originally housed the historic Chalfonte and Haddon Houses, which have been relocated and preserved as historic structures.
