Need a scenic escape with dramatic canyons, waterfalls, and a serious dose of adventure? You’ve got to check out Twin Falls! I was completely blown away by this southern Idaho gem. Sitting right on the edge of the Snake River Canyon, Twin Falls is where adrenaline and awe-inspiring beauty come together. Whether you're chasing waterfalls, strolling rim trails, or watching daredevils leap from a bridge, this place has a wild spirit and peaceful soul all at once. It’s perfect for outdoor lovers, weekend explorers, and anyone who needs a break with a view.

Twin Falls, ID Highlights:

  • For Adventurous Travelers: BASE jump off the Perrine Bridge – I stood on this iconic bridge just watching people leap—it’s one of the few places in the world where BASE jumping is legal year-round. Even if you’re not jumping, the thrill is contagious, and the views over the Snake River are epic.
  • For History Buffs: Visit the Herrett Center for Arts and Science – This museum on the College of Southern Idaho campus surprised me. It has a planetarium, ancient artifacts, and rotating exhibits that dig deep into the region’s natural and cultural history.
  • For Shoppers: Browse boutiques and local shops in Downtown Twin Falls – Downtown is charming and totally walkable. I picked up handmade art and Idaho-themed gifts, then settled into a cozy café with local brews and friendly vibes.
  • For Couples: Walk the Canyon Rim Trail at sunset – I can’t recommend this enough. The trail hugs the edge of the canyon with overlook spots perfect for photos (or just quiet moments). Sunset here is unforgettable—bring a blanket and make it a date.
  • For Families: Visit Shoshone Falls Park – These falls are nicknamed the “Niagara of the West,” and for good reason. At 212 feet, they’re taller than Niagara! There’s plenty of space for kids to run around, picnic areas, and fantastic photo ops all day long.

Best Time to Visit Twin Falls, ID

I’d say aim for April through October. Spring is best for seeing Shoshone Falls at full force, and summer brings warm weather and events. I visited in early fall and loved the cooler air and golden canyon hues—great for hiking without the crowds. Winter’s quiet but less ideal if you want full access to the outdoor action.

How to Get to Twin Falls, ID

  • If you are traveling by car: I drove in from Boise—it’s an easy 2-hour ride via I-84. Twin Falls is right on US-93, so it’s a smooth drive from Salt Lake City too (about 3 hours).
  • By Air: You can fly into Magic Valley Regional Airport (TWF). It’s small but efficient, with connections through Salt Lake City. I rented a car right there and was downtown in minutes.
  • By Bus: Greyhound offers service into town, but honestly, having a car gives you way more freedom to explore the trails, falls, and viewpoints that make Twin Falls so incredible.
