The Washington Historical Museum is located within a historic house dating back to the year 1857. Open from 10:00am until 5:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday, the museum is home to an extensive collection of Civil War artifacts, a nineteenth-century home life recreation, and Indian artifacts. A collection of antiques, memorabilia, and artifacts represents over two hundred years of the local history of Washington, as well as the surrounding Wilkes County in Georgia. Among the items on display at the Washington Historical Museum are Dave the Slave pottery, the field desk of Jefferson Davis, and numerous antiques from the mid-1800’s.
