Review:

Founded in 1949 as the Florida West Coast Symphony, the Sarasota Orchestra is the oldest continuing orchestra in the state of Florida. The orchestra’s home is Holley Hall in the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center. Consisting of 80 members, the orchestra performs over 100 classical, family, and pops concerts every year in Sarasota county as well as in Charlotte and Manatee counties.

The orchestra’s education program includes the Youth Orchestra which was established in 1959. This orchestra is made up of seven ensembles: the most advanced ensemble, the Youth Philharmonic, made its debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2008.
