The Mary S. Harrell Black Heritage Museum is dedicated to raising awareness and appreciation for African American culture and history.

Formerly known as the Black Heritage Festival / Museum of New Smyrna Beach, Inc., the museum is housed in the beautifully restored old Sacred Heart building that was built in 1899.

The building was once used as a place of worship for a congregation of Black Roman Catholics and forms part of the museum, which is the cornerstone of the historic West Side community in New Smyrna Beach.

The museum features a fascinating collection of artifacts, photographs, oral histories, and memorabilia relating to the African American community from the early 1900s to the present.
