The Great Falls Park is located just outside of Maryland in McLean, Virginia.

Home to one of the first canals built in the country, the Patowmack Canal, the Great Falls of the Potomac, and several hiking trails along the dramatic clifftops of Mather Gorge as well. The Great Falls of the Potomac River with rushing water flowing over jagged rocks, is the gem of Great Falls Park, although many guests come to see the remains of the historic canal. There are three overlooks for viewing the falls within a short walk from the park’s visitor center.
