Review:
The Public Hospital Museum served as a treatment center for the mentally ill during the 18th century. It was the first building of its kind in North America, and historians often describe it as “part jail, part infirmary.” At the museum, visitors can learn about the bizarre and macabre methods doctors used to treat patients throughout the 1700s. In addition to touring the hospital, guests can participate in the museum's special events, which are held throughout the year.
