Located on Broad Street, the Gadsden Museum of Art was founded in 1963 when the mayor of Gadsden offered space for the museum in Gadsden’s Convention Hall.
The first exhibit opened in 1965 and the museum moved several times before finding its current home in downtown Gadsden.
The museum is made up of three galleries: the first floor gallery houses large shows and exhibitions; the second floor gallery called the Grand Gallery features exhibits often displaying objects from the museum’s permanent collection.
Artifacts, photographs, and other objects related to local history are housed in the gallery on the third floor.
