Grand Lake O' the Cherokees (the full name) is nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in northeastern Oklahoma and ticks all the boxes for an active family holiday destination. The enormous lake is surrounded by five state parks, offering a wide array of recreational activities.
Avid fishermen come from miles around to try their hand at landing bass, catfish, and more, while families generally come to enjoy camping, boating, water sports, and hiking. The area is dotted with RV sites, resorts, marinas, and outfitters offering equipment hire for water sports, and there are no fewer than six golf courses near-by. Hikers and bikers will find several interesting trails to explore.
