Rock House is a unique cave situated halfway up a 150-foot cliff in the Hocking Hills State Park.
The cave was carved out of the Black Hand sandstone by millions of years of erosion by wind and water, which has left a real marvel of nature for you to explore, complete with seven “Gothic arched windows” and enormous columns supporting the stone roof.
You can reach the cave by hiking the half-mile Rock House Trail, which can be rather strenuous (depending on your fitness levels) due to the fact that you have to climb over 200 stairs along the route.
However, perseverance will reward you with an amazing cave tour and the chance to see how ancient cave dwellers built ingenious water channels and “ovens.” Map
