The Museum of the American Railroad is dedicated to preserving the history of the railroad in the United States. The museum displays a variety of objects from the railroad industry as well as several old trains which are preserved for visitors to tour and view.
The museum was started in 1961 when a few volunteers came together to preserve the history of steam powered passenger trains which were fading out of use. Now more than 50 years old, the museum continues with the same mission of preserving railroad history and educating others about the past of the American railroad. Tours are available.
