Near the hamlet of Linville Falls is the dramatic Linville Gorge – one of the most stunning vistas in the eastern part of the country. Linville Gorge encloses the Linville River for 12 miles.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a great way to get to Linville Falls, which can be seen from overlooks on two trails from the Linville Falls Visitors Center.
The entire Wilderness Area is quite a draw for rock climbers, backpackers, and hikers. Linville Gorge is home to bear, deer, raccoon, ruffled grouse, and turkeys. Fishing and hunting are allowed with permits.
