Acquired for the public’s “pleasure and enjoyment” in 1953 by the Town of New Lyme, McCook Point Beach and Park overlooks Niantic Bay and has become a popular recreational area for residents and visitors.
The park encompasses a large scenic bluff, which was once home to the McCook summer residence. It separates two white-sand beaches which are perfect for walking, swimming and sunbathing.
The bluff is home to a shaded lawn area with a picnic pavilion and a band shell where summer concerts take place. The park offers restrooms, pavilion hire, a play area and bocce courts. There is also free Wi-Fi available during the summer season.
