January kicks off the year in Colorado Springs with a frigid winter. The average high temperature peaks at 43°F (6°C) while the average low temperature is a bone chilling 18°F (-8°C). Snowfall this month averages at 6 inches (15 cm) making it a great time to enjoy skiing and other winter sports. Additionally, January receives the lowest precipitation rate with close to 0 inches (8 mm) of rain.

In February, the average high temperature increases ever so slightly to 45°F (7°C) along with the average low temperature which rises to 20°F (-7°C). Snowfall decreases by an inch, averaging at 5 inches (13 cm).

Colorado Springs Weather in March: Interestingly, it is the first month of spring, March, which receives the largest amount of snowfall in the year. Snowfall averages at 8 inches (20 cm) while the temperatures continue to rise. The average high and average low temperatures range between 52°F (11°C) and 26°F (-3°C).

In April, the average high temperature increases further to 60°F (15°C) while the average low temperature climbs to 33°F (1°C). Snowfall decreases to 5 inches (13 cm).

Many people arrive at the Colorado Springs Airport to begin their visit of Colorado Springs. Many major airlines such as Allegiant, American, Continental, Delta, Frontier, and United serve the airport and there are approximately 100 flights per day. The airport is located in the southeastern part of the city. If you are arriving by car there are two main roads that intersect in Colorado Springs. Interstate 25 runs north to Denver and south to Pueblo. The main east to west road is U.S. 24. Interstate 70 is a major east to west highway and people can exit this interstate and use U.S. 24 to continue on to Colorado Springs.

After arriving at the Colorado Springs Airport, there are several ways to get to the downtown area. There are car rental agencies conveniently located at counters in the baggage claim area of the airport. Courtesy shuttles are provided to take visitors from the airport to off-airport car rental companies. There are three bus companies that provide transportation from the airport into the city: they are the Alpine Express Shuttle, Gray Line, and Ramblin Express. There are nearly ten shuttle companies that whisk visitors from the airport into the city. There are two taxi companies that serve the airport and more than 20 limousine companies.

Driving a car is the best way to get around Colorado Springs, especially to visit nearby attractions such as Pikes Peak. Cars can be rented at the Colorado Springs Airport. The attractions in downtown Colorado Springs can be visited on foot; nearby Manitou Springs can also be visited on foot. The Mountain Metropolitan Transit has 22 local bus routes that run throughout the city. There are one way fares as well as one day passes. Colorado Springs is a very bicycle-friendly city. There are more than 100 miles of on street bicycle lanes. There are also 120 miles of paved city bicycle paths as well as more than 60 miles of mountain bike trails.

Colorado Springs is made up of five distinctive neighborhoods. In the southwest part of the city is the Broadmoor district. This is a residential neighborhood full of money and mansions that date from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Old North End is located north of downtown Colorado Springs. Here there are homes that date from the late 1800s. In the northwest part of the city, Rockrimmon is a neighborhood that was developed in the foothills in the 1970s. Wildlife like bighorn sheep and deer can occasionally be seen in this neighborhood. Briargate is an area in the northeast part of the city. This residential area sits on a hill so it offers good views.

Colorado Springs is a popular place for weddings because of its natural wonders. A marriage license can be obtained at any of the four locations of the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office: one of these is located downtown at Centennial Hall on South Cascade. There are many wedding venues because of the spectacular locations that include Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods Park. Some people get married at the 14,115 foot summit of Pikes Peak with its stunning views. In addition to the popular Garden of the Gods Parks, the Cave of the Winds is also a unique venue for a wedding. There are many hotels, resorts, and clubs for indoor weddings.
