Review:

Montara State Beach is located about 20 miles from San Francisco, on the San Francisco Peninsula about 8 miles from Half Moon Bay. The beach is a very popular location for surf fishing and for those who enjoy strolling along the sand and exploring the tide pools. To the south and north, the beach is surrounded by low hills. There is a lighthouse on Point Montara, which is operated by Hostelling International and offers accommodation. There are two access points to the beach from the bluff area, and a steep path on the ocean side of Highway 1. Beach fires are not allowed, dogs are allowed on a leash, and there is no camping.
