Review & FAQ:
The Wedge is an area known for its shore-breaking waves located at the east end of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. When the ocean swell is coming from the south or southwest, waves can be as high as 30 feet (9.1 meters).
It is a popular spot for bodyboarding, bodysurfing, skim boarding, and surfing. It is also a popular place for visitors to see and photograph the waves and watch the action.
The waves at the Wedge are created by the improvements that were made to the rock jetty on the west side of the entrance to the Newport Harbor in the 1930s.
