Since Sausalito residents Lloyd Smalley, Paul Maxwell, and Pat Arrigoni founded the Marine Mammal Center in 1975, they have rescued more than 20,000 marine mammals. The center is a non-profit private organization established to rescue and rehabilitate marine mammals and provide education on marine mammals and related research facilities.
