If you’re planning a fall escape, I can’t recommend Julian, California enough—especially for apple picking. It’s this charming little mountain town that’s packed with crisp air, cozy vibes, and just the right amount of adventure. I’ve made some of my sweetest autumn memories there, and I think you will too.

Highlights:

  • I loved picking apples straight from the trees at the family-owned orchards—you’ll feel like a kid again.
  • Do not leave without tasting a slice of Julian’s famous apple pie. I had mine warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and it was perfection.
  • You’ll enjoy strolling through the downtown area—it still has that gold rush-era charm. I found the cutest shops and even picked up a few local souvenirs.
  • If you’re into fall flavors, you’re going to love the cider tastings and seasonal treats. I sampled a spiced cider that I still dream about.
  • And don’t skip the drive through the Cuyamaca Mountains. I took one on a whim, and the fall colors and winding roads made it one of the most scenic parts of the whole trip.
