The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum documents the historic movement that changed the direction of a nation. Here you can learn about the many famous individuals who played a part in the Mississippi Freedom Struggle which took place between 1860 and 1910. The museum is home to a carefully curated collection of photos, documents and artifacts which tell this important story about the thousands of enslaved Africans who were brought to America between 1619 and 1865. It could be said that the state of Mississippi was built on the blood, sweat and tears of these unfortunate slaves and the museum follows their story and their emancipation. Every visitor to Mississippi should visit this museum.
