Review:

Five miles away from Inle Lake, the Shwe Indein Pagoda is a fascinating complex made up of more than 1,600 ancient Buddhist stupas. Most of the structures date from between the 14th and the 18th centuries, and they're made of everything from mud to stone to precious metals. Some of the structures have recently been restored, but many others are falling apart and hidden by the greenery of the jungle. The site is only accessible by boat, and visitors must go during the rainy season as the water levels in the canals are too low during the rest of the year. Shwe Indein Pagoda
