If you’re craving a fun escape with river views and a down-to-earth vibe, I can’t recommend North Little Rock enough! It’s just across the Arkansas River from Little Rock, and I love how it mixes outdoor fun, fascinating history, and a cozy, artsy feel. Whether you’re catching a baseball game (I did and had a blast), biking along the trails, or just relaxing with good food on Main Street, you’ll find yourself smiling more than you expected.

North Little Rock, AR Highlights:

  • For Families: Visit the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum – I brought the family here and we couldn’t stop talking about the submarine tour. You’ll feel like a kid again exploring the USS Razorback!
  • For Outdoor Enthusiasts: Walk or bike the Arkansas River Trail – I always pack my sneakers for this. You’ll love the views of the skyline, the river, and especially the Big Dam Bridge—it’s a great photo spot too.
  • For Kids: Play at Burns Park – If your little ones have energy to burn (mine always do), this park is a lifesaver. From trails to playgrounds to a mini amusement park, you’ll have no problem filling a sunny afternoon.
  • For an Adventure: Attend a game at Dickey-Stephens Park – I never skip a Travelers game when I’m in town. You should grab a seat with a view of the river—it’s such a chill, family-friendly atmosphere.
  • For Shoppers: Browse Argenta Arts District – I love wandering this neighborhood. You’ll find unique shops, art galleries, and plenty of cozy cafés to rest your feet.

Best Time to Visit North Little Rock, AR

I’ve been here in every season, and spring and fall are hands-down my favorite. You’ll enjoy cooler temps, colorful festivals, and perfect walking weather. Summer is great too—if you don’t mind the heat, you’ll catch plenty of riverfront events. And winter? It’s quiet and mild, which makes it ideal if you like a slower pace (I sure do).

How to Get to North Little Rock, AR

  • If you are traveling by car: I’ve driven in on both I-40 and I-30—it’s easy to navigate and just minutes from Little Rock. If you're coming from Memphis, plan on about two hours.
  • By Air: I flew into Clinton National Airport, and you’ll find it’s super convenient—just a quick 15 to 20-minute drive from the heart of the city.
  • By Train: I’ve also taken Amtrak’s Texas Eagle into Little Rock. From there, it’s just a short hop across the river to get to North Little Rock.

Where to Stay in North Little Rock, AR

  • Wyndham Riverfront Little Rock – I stayed here and really liked the river views and easy access to both the River Market and Argenta. You’ll love how central it feels.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Little Rock North – If you’re looking for a reliable, stylish spot (with a pool, which I always appreciate), this one’s solid for both work and play.
  • Inn at the Mill – When I want something a little more unique and intimate, I look just outside the city for boutique stays like this. You’ll get charm and comfort in one package.
