Meteor Crater near Winslow is the best preserved impact site of a meteorite in the world and a great stop on your trip. Found only minutes away from the old Route 66 and Interstate 40 in northern Arizona, the site is a fascinating result of the collision between Earth and an asteroid traveling approximately twenty-six thousand miles per house around fifty thousand years ago. The crater is almost one mile in diameter and over 550 feet deep. The Visitor Center is situated on the rim of the crater, along with an Interactive Discovery Center. There are outdoor observation trails, a movie theater, indoor viewing as well.
