Preserving 3,000 acres of unusual land formations which rise 800 hundred feet above the North Platte River, Scotts Bluff was once an essential landmark for the pioneers crossing the Oregon, California, Mormon, and Pony Express Trails, Scotts Bluff towers 800 hundred feet above the North Platte River. A monument museum features exhibits about the natural history of the area and boasts a unique collection of artworks by famous frontier artist William Henry Jackson.
