The Cathedral Caverns State Park is a sprawling recreational area set around the very impressive Cathedral Caverns, which opened to the public in the 1950’s.

Named for its cathedral-like interior, the cavers have an enormous entrance which beckons visitors to step inside and admire some of the most amazing rock formations in the country.

You can explore this natural phenomenon on a guided Cave Tour, which you need to book in advance.

Other activities in the park include hiking, trail running, camping, back-country camping and gem mining.

The park hosts several fun runs and an annual half marathon in March each year.
