Alderwood Mall is a shopping center that opened in 1979 with the anchor stores, JCPenney, Macy's, and Nordstrom. It has an enclosed portion and a few open-air regions called The Village and The Terraces. Alderwood Mall was the first mall in the world to welcome Zumiez, an apparel and footwear store that offers lifestyle fashions to young adults. And the mall is home to the United States' first Daiso store, a Japanese dollar store. 2. Lynnwood Recreation Center

Lynnwood Recreation Center is a public facility where visitors have the option of paying for single day visits, a 10-visit pass, or even an annual pass. One of the reasons people come to the recreation center is to swim. The Center has five different swimming pools all at varying temperature levels. There is a recreation pool, a wellness pool, a lap pool, a family hot tub, and an adult hot tub. Also, there is a dry sauna for adult use only. To make the pools accessible to all guests, they provide an aquatic wheelchair, poolside lift, and safety equipment.

3. Lynwood Ice Center

For more than 30 years Lynwood Ice Center has been helping generations of Lynwood residents to hone their ice-skating skills. The rink offers skating opportunities for all levels of aspirant skaters including complete beginners, who will soon discover the fun and excitement of learning how to skate like a pro. Families are welcome to come and spend a few hours enjoying informal open skating sessions while those who are interested in improving their skills can sign up for classes with former Olympic skating instructors. You can also join an ice-hockey session or bring all your friends to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion.

4. Scriber Lake Park

Scriber Lake Park is a natural refuge that the city of Lynnwood bought in 1982 to protect and preserve the area. Together, the 22 acres of forested land and Scriber Lake now operate as a community park. Not only does the lake provide a habitat for fish, birds and small mammals, it also functions as a stormwater holding facility. Some of the best-known features of this park include the wildlife habitat, floating boardwalks, observation nodes, and walking trails. The floating boardwalk offers a pathway to the lake where visitors can sit and relax on artistic benches while enjoying the serene natural environment.

5. Gold Park

Gold Park is a preserved open spaced area covered with forests, nature trails, grass fields and a seasonal stream. In 1997, the property where the part now sits belonged to Barbara and Morris Gold. They sold it to the city of Lynnwood with the condition that it would be a park without any recreational uses. The park features a variety of plants that are native to the Northwest like ferns, trillium, fairybells, and huckleberries. The name of this botanical garden is called the Stolja Ali Place of Medicine Ethnobotanical Garden. Here, visitors can spot wildlife, enjoy a picnic, or take a walk along a trail.

6. Lynnwood Convention Center

Lynnwood Convention Center is a large event and meeting facility. It’s nearly 54,000 square feet and features a grand hall that can hold up to 1,200 people. The Center first opened in 2005 and cost $31 million to complete. Although proposals for a convention center in Lynnwood started in the 1980s it took many years to get approval and receive funding. Today, some of the events and meetings that take place here include business conferences, weddings, auctions, banquets, trade shows, consumer shows and more. The Lynnwood Convention Center also has a number of permanent and rotating art pieces from local artists on display.

7. Lynndale Park

Lynndale Park is the largest park in Lynnwood. Out of the 40 acres that encompass the park, 22 of them are preserved as native forest. The remaining acres are for recreational uses and include many athletic fields and a skate park. In total, there are three lighted baseball fields, four tennis courts, several basketball courts, and a soccer field. For recreational activities, kids can have fun on the playground, dogs can run around the dog park, and adults can take a stroll on the walking and nature trails. There is also a large amphitheater and a dedicated picnic shelter.

8. Meadowdale Athletic Complex

The Meadowdale is an athletic complex and park that sits on 27 acres of land. It took a few years to build and was finally completed during 1990. Only five-and-a-half acres remain undeveloped and the rest is used for recreational and sporting activities. The athletic side of the complex has three lighted softball fields, two lighted multi-use sand fields, and a basketball court. Renovations to the five fields were done in 2018. Recreational areas include a play structure for children, a walking trail, a forested park, and picnic areas. There is also a concession building, pond, and restrooms on-site.

9. Funtastic Playtorium

Funtastic Playtorium is an indoor playground for children ages one to 10. Here kids can jump, run, climb, laugh, and have fun. It’s also a place where they can engage in active playtime with their friends or other children of similar ages. Funtastic Playtorium is not only enjoyable, but it’s safe and secure. Parents still must supervise their children at all times, yet they can be confident their child is in a safe and fun environment. Kids can either participate in free play, or plan a private birthday party. In 2016, the Playtorium was awarded the “Ideal Indoor Play Space” by Totally Awesome Awards.
