As the principal natural history museum in the state, the Virginia Museum of Natural History boasts award-winning exhibits and educational programs for people of all ages.

Visitors can learn about how the Earth was created, peer into working laboratories, and marvel at ancient dinosaur skeletons, and there are often games, crafts, and other activities for children.

If your kids are under the age of 8, they're also welcome to play in the Discovery Reef play center. There are private party spaces that can be booked for birthdays and other special events, and during the summer, the museum hosts Adventure Camps for kids.
