If you want to learn about the plants and animals that are native to Virginia, the Virginia Living Museum is the perfect place to do so.

It features both indoor and outdoor exhibits, which depict everything from the valleys of the Appalachian Mountains to the waters of Chesapeake Bay, and it's home to approximately 250 different species of animals.

A 3/4-mile interpretive boardwalk leads across the lake and through the wetlands, and the outdoor aviary features a boardwalk that takes visitors right into the treetops. There's also a planetarium, which offers live sky shows as well as laser shows.
