The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya was originally built in 1929 for the International Expedition, before opening its doors to the masses in 1934 to assemble a medieval collection. Throughout the years, more additions were made, including new rooms featuring Romanesque art in 1995 and the integration of modern art in 2004. Now, visitors are welcome to explore this amazing and vast museum, which houses the finest collection of Romanesque murals in the world. They also showcase the most impressive collection of artists known for Catalan modernism, including Casas and Gaudi. Gothic art, baroque, and European Renaissance paintings can also be found here.
