Experiencing warmer weather during Indigenous Peoples Day, usually on average around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, is not an uncommon event in Charlottesville, and because of this the extended weekend is known to bring in tourists from colder areas. There are some celebratory events that take place for Indigenous Peoples Day, including small parades and speeches from politicians and Native Americans, and the weather is still nice enough during that time to enjoy other outdoor activities. Charlottesville is known for being a gateway into Shenandoah National Park, allowing access into the Blue Ridge Mountains and the extensive trails for hiking, biking, and panoramic views of nature.
