Quality ingredients are the name of the game at Siphon Coffee, where they use local Houston roasters like Amaya Roasting and Xela Coffee as the base of their creations, as well as a rotating menu of guest roasters for seasonal blends. The eggs used in their breakfast dishes and pastries come from Vital Farms, located right in Texas, and their house-made chorizo is made from pork sourced from family farms. With such thought and care in every bite and every sip of every menu item at Siphon Coffee, it’s no surprise that their food and drink are delicious. On top of that, Siphon Coffee uses a unique siphoning method for some of their coffee beverages, using halogen burners to slow brew coffee a lot like you’d do with a cup of tea. The method brings out flavors in a perfect and one-of-a-kind way.

Step aside, craft beer, because Boomtown Coffee is bringing craft coffee into the game. This Houston classic roasts all its own beans in small batches, ensuring that every cup of coffee is a good one, with a distinct taste that is exactly as the roasters envisioned, if not more. Boomtown Coffee can be purchased wholesale for you to bring home and enjoy whenever you want, but there’s no experience like trying it in the cafe itself. Boomtown has several locations around Houston, including one in the Heights, one in the heart of downtown on Main Street, and a new location in Understory, an underground food hall in central Houston.

Catalina Coffee is a cozy spot for a lovely hot beverage and conversation with friends, or for a quick drink on the way to work or while running errands. Prominent among the young, hipster crowd of Houston, Catalina Coffee is generally pretty bustling even despite its somewhat isolated location, which should tell you something about the quality of their coffee. Local Houston roaster Amaya Roasting Company supplies their beans, and they also have an excellent selection of loose leaf teas, which change seasonally, as well as a rotating menu of pastries which are delivered fresh daily from local bakeries.

“One small sip for man…” is the slogan at Giant Leap Coffee, a cafe in Houston’s East End that does everything in its power to help customers “launch” their day the right way. This space-themed coffee shop has an adorable logo, and the cafe is filled with cute themed touches, like astronaut mugs and other space coffee souvenirs, space-themed latte art, and out-of-this-world coffee from Amaya Roasting. If coffee’s not what you’re after, Giant Leap also serves a wide selection of tea, kombucha, and even beer and wine, and their food and snack list includes everything from cookies to tacos.
